AI music is a quick way to get background tracks and songs for videos, podcasts, and games. Before you publish, it helps to understand what "royalty-free" covers, what it does not, and what your plan includes. This guide is general information, not legal advice.
What "royalty-free" means here
Royalty-free means you do not pay a fee each time the music is played or used. On Grok Music, commercial use of the songs you generate is included with Pro, Ultra, and the Large or Mega credit packs. That covers uses such as monetised videos, podcasts, games, and client work, subject to the Terms of Service.
What it does not cover
Commercial terms only cover what Grok Music can grant. They do not license material you bring in:
- Lyrics you did not write and do not have permission to use.
- Audio you upload for extending or covers that belongs to someone else.
- Songs designed to imitate a specific real artist or recording.
A publishing checklist
- Generate on a plan or pack that includes commercial use.
- Use only your own lyrics and audio, or material you are licensed to use.
- Download the files you publish and keep a note of the task and date in case you need to show where the music came from.
- Read the Terms of Service for the full conditions.
